Reporting to Parents

The English School reports formally to parents twice a year, at the end of term 1 and the end of the academic year.

Students in the Foundation Stage will receive a report based on their progress in the EYFS Early Years objectives. Students in Years 1 to 8 will receive a report based on their achievements in line with the objectives set out in the National Curriculum for England.

All reports will be available electronically through the parents’ portal, and the dates for the release of these reports will be on the school calendar.

The Term 1 report includes the setting of targets in all year groups, for children to work towards over the remainder of the year.  Class teachers and tutors will also make a summative comment about their educational and academic achievements throughout the first term.

The Term 3 report is a summative report of the progress and achievements of your child throughout the academic year. The Foundation Stage reports will comment on each EYFS area of learning, and teachers will summarise the learning and progress that has been achieved throughout the year, as well as commenting on the pastoral side of your child’s year in school. In Years 1 to 8, standarised scores will be given in English, maths and science, as well as levels for effort and attainment. End of year test scores will be recorded in this report, as well as a summative comment about your child’s work and progress in each subject throughout the year. Class teachers and tutors will also write a comment about your child’s overall performance throughout the year, both academically and pastorally.
