TES have made an excellent start to their sporting year, since their first games back in early September. We saw our U13 boys dominate in the swimming pool during the first of two ISACK gala’s, and the girls did extremely well to finish 3rd in the U13 category, 3rd in U15 and 2nd in the Open age category- not bad considering all of our students were under the age of 13! Both our Football and Netball squads have managed to secure places in their respective semi-finals, to be played the week after Half-Term. In KFSAC, we saw our Year 5 /6 Girls once again win the annual Benchball tournament here at TES- scoring 50 goals and conceding only 7. Our Year 5 /6 Boys A and B football squads have put in some excellent performances in their league matches so far, and are hoping to retain the title from last year with just two more games to play. We now also have the swimming gala and Unihoc tournaments to look forward too, as well as the BSME Netball Tournament in Abu Dhabi. Well done to all of our athletes this term and the very best of luck for the remainder of the year!
KFSAC Year 5 /6 Girls Benchball Tournament
Monday saw the return of the annual KFSAC Benchball tournament, here at TES. Over the last 7 years- under the reign of Mr Leaver- TES have successfully won the Year 5 /6 girls Benchball every year. So the pressure was on today to continue his Benchball legacy!
And it was indeed continued- 8 consecutive years now crowned as champions- a truly remarkable feat.
The girls played extremely well throughout all 5 matches. Our first game was against NES, who, after just 2minutes led by 3 - 0. However, the fighting spirit of TES came to the fore and with some fantastic movement around the court and meticulous marking, our girls managed to turn the game around quite drastically, to win 8-5 in the end. With nerves now out of their system, the girls then faced ATIS immediately after. Their excellent performance continued into their second match, where they managed to secure a 10-2 victory. So far so good for our girls. Next we moved onto BSK- a game we thought might cause us some problems. However, the girls energy, drive and determination to win shone through, as they won quite convincingly in the end- 13-0 to TES after 10 minutes of superb Benchball. Three games down and two to go- the girls were in good shape and spirits were high. Next we faced ESF. Again, thanks to some fantastic play from all 9 girls who featured in this game, the girls took another comfortable victory of 7-0. This took us swiftly into our final game against KES. A win here, would mean that we would retain the title. They saved the best performance till last- it was by far their best game of the day! The girls threw themselves into the match and came away with a 12 - 0 win, meaning that once again, our new batch of Year 5 /6 Benchball girls were to be crowned champions. Well done to Riri, Melanie, Zoha, Yara, Eunice, Olivia, Lavinia, Thalia and Nourhan- you are worthy champions!
ISACK U13 Girls Netball
TES 30 v 0 TEA
After last week’s defeat, the girls were looking to put it behind them and come out today ready to win another game. With a position in the semi-final already secured, today’s game was to decide our final placing after the group stages. And they didn’t disappoint! The girls were well and truly back on top form today, with a very comfortable victory over TEA. The 30-0 deficit was achieved after 25 minutes of play before the mercy rule was applied- it is a new rule that has been introduced this year whereby if a win over 30 points or more is achieved, the game is stopped. Angelina and Darcy were both on excellent form this week, rarely missing a shot and showing once again how talented they are. The remainder of the squad played exceptionally well, and quite frankly, played some excellent Netball showcasing the improvements they continue to make this season. Maisy had a very quiet game today but still managed to ensure that she, Mia and Josefin kept a clean sheet and conceded no goals- great work girls! As ever, our centre court play rom Emily, Callie, Zeina and Sienna proved to be an unstoppable force, making plenty of interceptions and ensuring the ball was diligently brought up the court to our shooters. After half term, the girls move onto their semi-final match, which we suspect will be against BSK. Excellent start girls- the title is once again with our grasp!

TES 2 v 1 TEA
The final league game of the season for TES was against TEA at Hasan Abul pitches. The TES team started fast and put TEA on the back foot straight from the off and created many chances to score. Danny, Max, Shareef, Orestis and Owain had a number of shots each but unfortunately, were unable to capitalize on the early pressure with a goal. A number of the TES shots were either blocked by TEA or just missed the target. TEA rarely threatened but when they did, the defense of Cassius, Jack, Matthew and Omar restricted their chances, leaving Benjamin in goal very little to do. The breakthrough for TES came midway through the half when Owain dribbled the ball past a couple of defenders and hit a shot past the keeper into the far post. The second half was very similar to the first with TES creating chances and TEA playing on the counter attack. Benjamin had more to do in the second half but looked solid in goal and created a number of chances with his long kicks for Orestis, Max and Shareef. TES earned a lot of free kicks and corners from working hard and putting TEA under pressure and midway through the second half, Shareef hit an excellent free kick that beat the keeper but a defender used his hands to stop the ball from crossing the line. Owain scored from the penalty spot to double TES's lead with a solid penalty kick. TEA pressed to get back in the game and managed to get a consolation goal late on after winning the ball in TES's half and a good strike managed to beat Benjamin. After the half term break TES will face NES in the semi-finals of the ISACK competition. Best of luck to all our boys!
