Key Stage 1
It is here that students continue an excellent grounding in all the basics and their natural inquisitiveness is stimulated. In this purposeful and thriving environment, students feel secure and confident and are able to fulfil their potential.
Young children are active learners and therefore operate most effectively through first-hand experiences. They are encouraged to question, explore, apply and test what they know and can do. They are also encouraged to develop their ideas, understanding and language as they begin to assimilate the knowledge, concepts and skills that they will build on throughout their lives.
Our classrooms are spacious and bright, allowing children to learn in a happy and stimulating environment. All infant classrooms have a wealth of resources. Each is furnished with a computer, networked to the IT room. Each classroom also has a well-stocked book corner and plenty of display space for the children's work.
Each year, all of our infant children take part in a musical production. The children work together to produce a show which the entire school and the parents take great pleasure in watching.
Teaching and learning strategies are varied according to the purpose of the task and the need of the child. Teaching staff guide, encourage and challenge - all within a caring and supportive environment that promotes the children's independent learning.
