Design & Technology
Design and Technology offers students an opportunity to develop their design and practical skills and broaden their knowledge and understanding. They develop their capability to create high quality practical products, which nurture innovation and creativity. They also develop an appreciation of technological processes, products and their manufacture, and their contribution to our society.
There are three main areas within which Design and Technology is taught; resistant materials including wood; plastics and metal; textiles and food. Within these three areas, children will apply their acquired knowledge of materials and their components, mechanisms and control systems, structures, existing products, quality control and health and safety. They explore and strengthen other areas of the curriculum which this subject touches.
