ISACK U13 Boys Swimming Gala
The boys returned to the water for the first time of two this academic year on Thursday. Hoping to retain last year’s title, our new squad of hopefuls swam extremely well. The team effort by Maxwell, Sam, Hamza, James, Liam, Dexter and Truman, resulted in a 2nd place finish overall, narrowly missing out on first by 2 points. The boys managed to win both relay races and multiple individual golds, silvers and bronzes. Hopefully in round 2, we’ll find those 2 points somewhere!! A big well done to our exhibition swimmers Haydn, Zayn and Oli, who also swam really well.
ISACK U13 Girls Netball
TES 41 v 0 TEA
The girls continued their winning ways this week, with a fantastic victory over TEA. Leading from start to finish, it wasn’t a case of would we win, but more, how big a win could we claim today? After just 10 minutes of play, we were already 12-0 up. The girls had started strong, and never looked like relenting against a more confident TEA side. Our girls played some fantastic netball, moving well and passing with only 2 interceptions throughout; much better than week 1! The second quarter, saw a couple of changes to the line up, but no change in the play. TES continued to dominate during the match, pulling 23-0 ahead at half time. More changes were made to the squad, allowing every member of the team to play today, making the win all the more special. Watching each girl contribute to the win on court, showcases how hard the team has been working together in training. 20 more minutes of play, and despite TEA never giving up and pushing us to the very final whistle, the TES onslaught never slowed up. 41-0 in the end and the girls are feeling confident going into their group match of the season. Things are looking good so far!
ISACK U13 Boys Football
TES 1 v 1 BSK
The TES boys continued their unbeaten run to start the season, but were unable to maintain the winning streak against BSK in a 1-1 draw. BSK were the most difficult competitive team the boys have faced so far. The game started with BSK passing the ball around at the back and the TES boys standing off and allowing them to have possession of the ball in their own half. However TES pushed forward and were taking numerous shots, but unable to put the ball in the back of the net. Maxwell went close and forced the keeper into a good save and shortly later a cross by him just flashed by Truman and Ciaran, with neither one able to get on the end of it. Some sloppy defensive work by TES allowed BSK a foothold in the game and they went close, hitting the side-netting with Jad on his near post. Towards the end of the half, the boys were getting more chances with Sam delivering some excellent crosses and Ciaran going close to scoring after some pressure from Truman. Truman also created a chance for himself but fired his shot over the crossbar. The second half started much better for TES with the boys taking the ball forward more. Straight from kickoff, the boys created a scoring chance, which went just wide, and Ethan went close to scoring with a flick that went just past the back post. Sam managed to beat his defender and rush forward into the box, he then went down from a challenge from the BSK centre back which the referee deemed to have got the ball. Just moments later TES took a 1-0 lead with some excellent footwork form Ethan providing a pass for James to run onto and place past the advancing BSK keeper. After taking the lead, the boys were unable to convert their chances and BSK struck back, again due to some poor defending by TES as a team. We overplayed on the ball in defence and did not clear the ball successful before a block from Sverre hit his hand. BSK had a free kick from 20 yards out which was smashed past the TES wall and gave Jad in goal no chance of saving. The game ended shortly after in a 1-1 draw with the TES boys obviously disappointed, they worked really hard on the day but it was mental errors that let the side down overall. We will be looking for a big improvement in next weeks fixture versus DMS.
KFSAC U11 Boys A and B Team Football
A: TES 7 v 0 NIS
B: TES 0 v 0 NIS
The KFSAC Football squad put a much more impressive performance in the second game of the season compared to the opening match. The boys looked a lot more organised and were playing the correct positions and all made a good contribution to an excellent overall team performance. Andrew opened the scoring in the first few minutes with a very powerful strike from distance that zipped past the NIS keeper. The defense of Rakan, Adham, Joshua, and Tristan worked extremely well and joined the attack whenever they could. TES controlled the majority of the game and Taylor went very close to scoring, hitting the post with a great right footed strike. It was Andrew that doubled the lead with a good strike from a well worked free kick from him and Carl. Adham received a short corner and then smashed a shot which cannoned off the crossbar. Taylor then scored 2 goals in quick succession after both times closing down the ball well and fire his shots into the bottom corner. At halftime, the score was 4-0 and the TES boys were playing with some real confidence. Mohammad set up Rakan for a shot which he struck well, with the NIS keeper making a great save before the rebound came back to Rakan but he was denied again with another really good save. Andrew completed his hattrick with a goal direct from a corner and Carl got on the scoresheet with a deflection from a Rakan long distance shot. Mohammad M scored the 7th goal of the game from a corner and the TES boys completed a sound victory. The A team used all the skills we worked on in training and transferred them into a great performance to beat NIS 7-0.
After a great performance by the A team, the expectations were high for the B squad, unfortunately, they were unable to replicate the result or performance.The players did not quite keep their positions which meant that there was a lot of the game played in the middle of the pitch, without much space to work in. The boys feeling that they could get a win pushed forward too far which caused a few problems in our defense, which meant that Sebastian had to make a couple of very good saves to stop NIS scoring. Kabir, Gonzague, Muhammad G and Tarik in attack all had chances to score but were unable to get control of the ball before striking the ball. Every chance TES created either ended up being mishit or shot just wide of the target. The defense of Sean, Ali, Senai, and Matt all were pushing forward to help the attack but despite having control of the game.TES could not score. Tarik came closest to scoring from a free kick and did get a great chance to score from a penalty after Gonzague's shot was handled by a NIS player. Tarik fired the penalty past the NIS keeper but unfortunately he did not wait for the whistle, so he had to retake. The second attempt went just wide of the mark, keeping the game scoreless. The second half was very similar to the first, with TES pushing forward but unable to capitalise on their chances. NIS countered and nearly scored a game-winning goal, but luckily for TES, Sebastian in goal made a great block. It was a disappointing performance from the B team and they felt it was a game they really should have won. We have another week of training to work on things before the next match versus NES next week, keep training well boys and it will all come together soon!
