In the penultimate week of the term 1 sporting season, TES competed in a number of competitions. The girls U13 football team played in the annual ISACK tournament performing extremely well. The boys U13 volleyball team played their 3rd game of the season and the boys Y5/6 KFSAC benchball team finished the week winning the competition for the 7th straight year. A phenomenal achievement.
U13 Boys Volleyball
TES 2 - 1 BSK
The TES boys U13 volleyball team played their third game of the season against BSK this week. In a very convincing first set TES won at a canter 25-8. It was a good solid performance and the boys went into the second set in confident mood. However, after a few nervy points TES lost their way and BSK took control. The BSK team really picked up their game and won the second set 25-20. This meant a nervous third set had to be played. The scores were fairly even but at 11-11 TES took control and Evan served the boys to victory 15-11. The boys deserve a great deal of credit for coming back when they looked down and out in the second set. The result means that TES go into the winter break with 3 wins from 3 games and have achieved qualification for the semi finals. Well done boys.
U13 Girls Football Tournament
On Saturday on a bright, freezing, sunny December morning the U13 girls football team took part in the annual ISACK tournament. With 4 games to play, the girls went for it from the start. 3 convincing wins against BSK, KES and TEA, meant TES were favourites to win going up against close rivals NES. The girls played really well and fought to the finish, but lost out 1-0. This meant that TES and NES were tied for 1st place on points. However, with NES having a better goal difference the TES girls had to settle for 2nd place. Layal had kept a clean sheet up until the NES game, producing some fine saves -including a penalty- assisted well by Zeina in defence. The girls were very unlucky and played some fantastic football. In all honesty they deserved to win the tournament but sometimes in sport it does not always go the way it should. Well done to the whole squad for a super performance.
Y5/6 Boys Benchball Tournament
Amazing Y5/6 Benchball squad win 7th consecutive KFSAC benchball title
On Wednesday the boys Y5/6 benchball team played in the annual KFSAC event. TES were bidding for a seventh straight overall victory in the tournament. The boys looked strong from start to finish and cruised through the opening two group games, winning 6-1 v NES and 7-0 v DMS. In the next two games the boys stormed to victory 17-0 v KNES and 4-1 v ATIS. The results meant that TES finished as top seeds in their group and faced second placed BSK from group 2. In the semi final TES started fantastically well scoring 2 goals within the first minute. TES added two more goals before BSK replied. Another two goals from TES made the final score 6-1 as the boys moved onto
the final. In the final TES took on KES. In a frantic start both teams showed high energy and effort. However, the super TES team settled and
scored two quick goals. A reply from KES made the game tense for a while, however, 2 further goals took the game away from KES at 4-2. Another two goals from TES made the game safe and the final score finished 6-3 to TES. It was a fabulous performance from the boys and they should all be extremely proud of themselves. This is the seventh year in a row that TES teams have won the competition, which is a phenomenal achievement. Well done to all of the squad and also to the pupils who trained with the squad up until the tournament:
Basil (C), Ahmed, Maro, Jack, Matthew, David, Tom, Omar, Benjamin, Truman, Warith, Manno and Abdul Raheem.
