KFSAC Year 3 / 4 Mixed Benchball

Last week our Year 3 and 4 boys and girls were in action in the annual KFSAC Benchball tournament. This year featured 6 boys and 4 girls in the squad and all of them played brilliantly from start to finish.
Their opening match was against DBS, which they won comfortably 5-0. TES started off nervously, however after a couple of minutes found their flow and played with great speed and tenacity, causing DBS all sorts of problems and never granting them an opportunity to shoot. A good start to the tournament. Next up we faced NES, who last year made it extremely difficult for us to retain the title. Our kids were too strong for them this year though, as they stormed ahead to a 6-1 victory in the end. Our passing and movement were good, however we knew we needed much more energy on the court if we were to win the tournament. Next up, we faced a very tall BSK team. This was probably the best game TES played in the tournament, as they managed a very impressive 8-1 victory. Defensively, we were much better than in our opening games and on the offense, our opposition couldn't keep up at times. The children played very well individually and most importantly, as a well structured team. We then had 3 back to back games. First up, were ESF. Another very tall team in comparison to our children, but speed well and truly beat height today! Defensively, it was a sloppy performance at times, however offensively we were very quick and tenacious, limiting ESF to only one or two shots all game. We won 7-0 in the end, and looked good to win the title. We faced KES next. Here, our footwork and general discipline began to lag and caused us problems. We won the game eventually, however made far too many unforced errors which could have cost us not only the game, but the tournament as well. We managed a 4-0 win in the end, but we had to work much harder than we had anticipated. Our final game was indeed a final showdown. Whilst we were busy winning all of our games, so too were ATIS. The winner of our final game, would be crowned champions. As if the teams hadn't been tall enough in comparison to us, ATIS were giants stood at the side of our TES team! Both teams gave it their all and despite some sloppy defending at times, once again the quick movement and discipline throughout the court, proved too strong in the end. A 4-1 win, meaning TES were crowned as champions for the 9th consecutive year!
KFSAC 5/6 Girls Unihoc Tournament
The TES Yr 5-6 KFSAC Girls Unihoc team played a fantastic tournament at NES on Monday night. The girls won every single game in their pool; 1-5 against DBS, 0-3 against KBS, 0-1 against KNES, an amazing 0-7 against BSK and 0-3 against ATIS. 17 of the 19 goals scored were claimed by Filippa and the other 2 by Zahra. While, Camille, Isabella and our other Zahra in goal did a stirling job defending and pushing the ball forward. In the semi-final TES were leading 1-0 then frustratingly, some unclear umpiring and a fantastic goal by TES, which was then disallowed, meant that ESF were able to equalise. With only two minutes on the clock ESF scored a second goal and went through to the final against the tournament champions NES. TES won comfortably against ATIS 2-0 in the third place playoff. A bittersweet afternoon, but the TES girls can hold their heads up and know that they gave it all that they could. Well done girls!
KFSAC 5/6 Boys Unihoc Tournament

The KFSAC Unihoc team put in some fantastic performances on their way to a convincing win in the tournament hosted at TES on Wednesday afternoon. From the very first game, the boys looked like the team to beat and their effort, dedication and performances led them onto a perfect 4 record. All 5 of the squad played brilliantly, with Findlay in goal and Sam, Ciaran, Harrison and Maxwell on pitch the boys looked unbeatable. With Sam in defence and leading the team from the rear and Harrison, Ciaran and captain Maxwell taking up attacking positions the boys displayed great skill during the tournament. In the opening match the boys raced out to an early lead with Maxwell scoring 4 goals and Ciaran adding the 5th, before conceding a penalty that was scored by ATIS to win the opening match 5-1. In match 2 the boys were outstanding, passing and moving, chasing down the opposition and setting each other up unselfishly to hammer NES 6-1, with Maxwell adding another 3, Harrison 2 and Ciaran popping up with another one. In game 4 the boys kept a clean sheet with Findlay making a couple of good saves and Sam being a rock at the heart of the defence, whilst Maxwell and Ciaran scored 2 a piece to win 4-0 versus ESF. In the final game of the tournament the boys came up against the only other unbeaten team when they faced KES. The final match stayed 0-0 for the opening few minutes with TES dominating the possession and territory but unable to score from good positions. It took a really slick attacking move to create the opening goal for Ciaran. In the blink of an eye TES were leading 3-0, adding goals from Ciaran again and Maxwell within a minute taking the lead. Sam pushed forward in the final game and managed to get on the scoresheet himself resulting in a 4-1 win for TES, even Findlay got a chance to play out on pitch to get more involved in the game. It really was an outstanding effort by the lads and they should be delighted with the way they played, great work boys!
ISACK U13 Boys Volleyball

TES 2 - 0 BSK
TES boys finished the ISACK league season with a perfect record, 5 wins out of 5. The final fixture was against BSK on home court and the win guarantees a home semi final to be played next week. TES raced out to an early lead with some fine serving from Maxwell, before the boys were caught off guard by a return and then BSK served well to take a 7-3 lead. TES finally settled and started to play some good team volleyball with good attacking shots and the serving throughout the entire game was of a very high standard. All of the team, at some stage, put together some excellent serves with Jack, Woojin, Omar, Matthew and Jad all having runs of at least 5 serves without return. In the opening set when Woojin went into the serving position, the set ceased to be a contest with 7 great serves which could not be returned by the opposition and TES going on to win 25-16. In the second set all the boys had a good amount of playing time with Truman, Rafael, Thomas and Ben all making great contributions to the team win. The second set saw some great shots, with Jad performing a spectacular flying dig to help win a point and captain Jack scoring on 11 successive serves. Final score for the second and decisive set was 25-13. In the final (friendly) set the boys rotated a lot and continued to have some "extensive" team talks from Mr Watts which led to some more interesting attacks, this time Benjamin performed a superb flying dig to rescue a point and Omar scored on 11 successive serves. Set 3 finished 25-18 to TES.
It has been a great season so far by the boys and they truly deserve success in volleyball; they need to continue to play well in the semi final and hopefully reach the final in 2 weeks time. Great season so far lads! 2 more to go!
ISACK U13 Girls Basketball

TES 38 - 9 BSK
The girls have had an excellent season to date. They are undefeated and hoped that they would continue their winning form today. Their last group game was at BSK. A win here today, would mean they finish top of the table and play fourth place in their semi-final next week.
The girls started off really well scoring a few early baskets. At the end of the first quarter, the girls were leading comfortably, 10 -1. As we moved into the second quarter, our girls pressed even harder, making it very difficult for BSK to get any kind of shot away. At half time, the score stood at 22-1. As we moved into the third quarter, we started to lose a little momentum and consequently, allowed BSK to attack the basket, scoring a couple of very soft baskets courtesy of some poor defense from our girls. With just 10 minutes left, the score was now 30-9. In the final quarter, we managed to hold strong and stopped BSK adding to their score. We tightened up our defense and ensured that the game was ours, 38-9 in the end. Every girl took to the court once again today, making the win even more special.
Next Tuesday, the girls once again face BSK at TES in their semi-final match-up. So far, an excellent season. Can the girls winning streak continue?
